Parliament (rather for youth groups)

Time: approx. 20-40 min., depends on group-size
Recommended age: all ages, from 6, if necessary adapt the rules
Size of group: 10 persons or more
Time for preparation: none
Material: Circle of chairs

Game description

All sit in a circle, and there is a parliament of four marked seats. Two groups are sitting alternating in a circle. For example, boy-girl-boy-girl. The aim of the two groups is to occupy, four consecutive seats with people from their own team. However, if the children do not know each other, you could start with the game; “My right, right seat is free.” The objective is still to occupy 4 chairs in a row with members of the own team.

Option

If the children know each other’s names already a little bit, then you could use, sheets of paper with the name on it. Each kid writes his name on a piece of paper. Fold it in half, then the group leader gives you a new piece of paper with a name on it. Now, if Susann is requested by Thomas to come to the right place, Mike gets and goes to the place, because the name on his sheet is Susann. Now Mike and Thomas have to change their pieces of paper so that Thomas receives the piece of paper with Susann written on it. This makes the game more complicated, but at the end, everybody will know the names so much better, because of the constant concentration.

Judging

The winner is the team who manages to occupy the 4 parliamentary seats with their own people. However, getting to know the names of everybody is in the foreground.
