Game description

In this game, participants learn others assess their own limits and to respect the limits of their teammates. To begin, the group is divided into two equal teams. Each team lines up on one side of the room, facing each other. It is important that each participant looks into the eyes of another kid. Then they start slowly walking towards each other. The objective is to find out, how far each kid can go until he feels that his closeness has become uncomfortable for the other kid. Those first signs of discomfort can happen before the kid might be able to recognise it themselves. Look for sign such as twitching in the face or hands or other small facial expressions and gestures. With this game, the children will learn not just to find their own boundaries regarding the proximity of others, but they will also learn to feel the boundaries of somebody else. It is important to know where some else’s personal space starts and how to respect that.
