The term hockey is usually placed in conjunction with (Ice) Hockey. This fast sport, with the potential to get very rough, is considered a guy’s game only. However, not many people do know that there is a view variation to this sport, such as field- or lawn hockey. Also, the widespread stereotype of the tough guy’s game does not apply to them.

If we talk about hockey, we mean a very motion intensive and fast game. Also, this sport makes high demands on technique, tactics and the interplay of the individual players. This starts with the ball control and ends with swift switching between attack and defence. Psychosocial and educational aspects play a much greater role the in many other team games.

Besides speed, tactic, gross and fine motor skills play a critical role in hockey. To play well within a team, proper coordination, as well as tactical thinking, is required. Because fight- and team spirit promote social skills, at the same time, players learn social skills in a very practical way. Lone fighters, playing with great physical effort will eventually fail. Therefore, the game is also ideal for co-educational groups. Because in this team game, participants can experience team spirit like in no another team sport. The individual player learns how to integrate himself into the team best but also to deal with critic and how to implement his own ideas.

Last but not least, the hockey stick can be used for a variety of other games. The following games are suitable to be used in group meetings as well as for various other gaming situations, such as school festivals.
